CEDRR talk: "An adapted ontology for a prosopography of medieval Sardinia: RDF schemes, OWL and an open linked database"

  • 23 March 2022
    3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
The lecture by Hervin Fernández Aceves from the University of Lancaster (more on the lecturer), organized by the Centre for the Digital Research of Religion at Masaryk University's Department for the Study of Religions, will not focus on religion, but it will offer inspiration in the realm of data modelling concerned with historical people.
Abstract: A recent attempt at shifting from a relational database design to linked open data has resulted into this methodological reflection and ontology for extracting prosopographical factoids from Sardinian medieval charters. On the basis of Bradley’s relational prosopography and RDF schema, the author will present an alternative method for manually marking-up prosopographical data in OWL.
