Cultural Domain Analysis and RICH Economic Games: An Inductive Toolkit for Mapping Emotions in Social Networks
This workshop will describe a methods toolkit that can be used to inductively map the structure of concepts within a population, including affect concepts, so that these can be deployed and probed in subsequent hypothesis-driven studies. It will also describe RICH economic games, which can be used to systematically describe the patterning of incentivized social behaviour within a social network, allowing for testing hypotheses about the recipient identity-conditioned heuristics that drive social decision making, including interpersonal sentiments. An emphasis will be on the importance of inductive, descriptive, and ecologically valid methods in even the most theory-driven studies of human social behaviour.
